First-Time Renters Workshop Set Today

A collaborated effort brings forth a way for first-time renters to learn all they need to about the process behind renting. "We've seen more and more need for it," said Monte Fetter, one of the speakers of a scheduled workshop.

The First Time Rents Informational Workshop is scheduled for 1 to 3 p.m. Monday at the Ivy Tech Campus.

The workshop is geared toward young adults, particularly foster children, said Fetter, who's from Fetter Properties in Evansville.

"But we discovered more than just foster children needed it," Fetter said.

The free pilot program will mostly be about the renters' information, but several other services that go along with renting property will be mentioned.

He said the groups are hoping for a more regular feature.

"It's certainly been proven that it's a need," he said.

Mary Moll, from Evansville Homes for Rent, said while the average child will have his/her housing paid for until they are 18, they need to know what to do afterward. …
