Bucshon to Goebels: Farm Bill Is Coming ; Message Delivered during Tour of Regional Businesses

While on winter recess from the 113th Congress, U.S. Rep. Larry Bucshon visited Goebel Farms in Vanderburgh County on Wednesday afternoon as part of his "Rural Town and Retail Tour." The two- term Republican congressman said he annually visits small businesses in Indiana's 8th District, which includes Posey, Vanderburgh, Warrick, Spencer, Gibson and Pike counties.

"It's a part of my job, hearing what people think. I hear what people are concerned about, and how difficult it is to run a small business," the former Newburgh heart surgeon said.

Goebel Farms is a family-operated retail farm that specializes in selling Christmas trees, and also pumpkins and squash.

Bucshon also spoke about the Farm Bill, a large piece of legislation that covers several facets of farming industry and food programs.

The Farm Bill had been passed every five years. The last one was took effect in 2008 and expired in September. With Congress on break, a new Farm Bill will not be passed in 2013. …
