Evansville, Ind. Barbara Lensing Cunningham was surrounded by her loving family when she left this world to be with the Lord Monday, February 17, 2014, following an accidental fall.

Barbara was a graduate of Reitz Memorial High School and Purdue University, where she was a member of the Pi Beta Phi Sorority. She was an exceptional woman that was a pioneer in everything she did. She was the first licensed Kindergarten teacher in the State of Indiana, a Special Education teacher at the Evansville Rehabilitation Center and a founding staff member at the Evansville Day School. Barbara ran Congressman Cornwell's office, was the Chief administrator of the 1980 State of Indiana Census and was a Mayoral Assistant to Mayor Mike Vandeveer. Barbara was the Executive Director of the Vanderburgh County Area Plan Commission for 22 years.

She was a Board Member of the Indiana State Psychology Advisory Board, and still active on many committees, boards, and clubs. …
