'Talk to a Lawyer' phone clinic coming on May 1

The next scheduled "Talk to a Lawyer" telephone clinic is set for May 1 from 4:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. CST.

Volunteer lawyers will be available to answer general legal questions asked by the public. The service is free and is available to anyone.

To access the telephone clinic, the numbers are: 812-618-4845 or toll free, 888-594-3449.

The program is a collaboration of the Volunteer Lawyer Program of Southwestern Indiana, Inc., Indiana Bar Foundation and the Evansville Bar Foundation.


VU music students to string together Guitar Fest

The Vincennes University Music Department will present Guitar Fest on April 24 at 7:30 p.m. EDT at the Red Skelton Performing Arts Center. The concert is free and the public is invited to attend.

Featured music will include Pachebel's Loose Canon, tributes to Antonio Lauro, Andy McKee, Duane Allman, Chet Atkins, Glen Campbell, Blind Willie Johnson and Jimmy Page.

The concert will include Vincennes University students and faculty in the Classic Guitar Ensemble, Blues Ensemble, Advanced Guitar Class and the String Ensemble.


Friends of Mental Health luncheon set for April 24

The Friends of Mental Health will host their fifth annual signature fundraising luncheon "Brim and Rim" on April 24 from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at the Old Post Office Event Plaza.

The guest speaker is Darren Sroufe, chaplain for the Evansville Police Department, who will discuss the Crisis Intervention Team and the enhancement of mental health services with the local police and sheriff's department.

The event also includes a live auction and a tasting of tea and coffee, where all guests take home a commemorative tea cup and saucer.

USI seeking input on 'makeover' for mascot

The University of Southern Indiana is doing a "makeover" on its mascot, Archibald Eagle, and the school is seeking opinions on his new look.

Archie's makeover is part of a rebranding campaign at USI. The school unveiled its new academic and athletic logos last week, and it's also come up with two updated versions of its mascot. …
