CYCLING Manchester has been earmarked to stage two major cycling events as British Cycling looks to build on the legacy of London 2012.

National Cycling Centre trained riders snapped up eight track golds medals, with doubles for Farnworth's Jason Kenny, Sir Chris Hoy and Emma Trott.

They have also competed regularly at the National Championships, which has helped launch a number of top line careers.

Britain's leading Olympians may opt out of this year's Championships - taking place at the Velodrome from September 26-30.

However, many of the riders who will hope to compete at Rio in 2016 will be in action as they look to make a favourable early impression on selectors.

Bury's Simon and Adam Yates are likely to be among those on duty.

Manchester has also secured another first with a successful bid for a UCI BMX Supercross World Cup next April.

Legacy The competition will take place at the National BMX Centre built as part of the London Olympic Games legacy and providing Team GB's BMX athletes with a world class training facility. …
