Stars Hail the King That's Long to Reign over Us All ; Downpour Doesn' Lion King Stirs African Memories for Sir Bobby

ON stage there was the heat of the African plains, but outside VIPs braved the soggy Manchester elements on the red carpet at the grand launch of The Lion King.

King among the VIPs was Manchester United legend Sir Bobby Charlton. For Sir Bobby and wife Norma the show brought back special memories of their own times in Africa.

Sir Bobby said: "We've been to Africa a lot for holidays and we absolutely love it. We've been fortunate enough to go out on safari and on one occasion we witnessed a herd of 500 buffalo as they were surrounded by 15 lions. It was just bedlam, our guide said he'd never seen anything like it, we were just in the right place at the right time."

But of course at the weekend Reds legend Sir Bobby will head to the lion's den at the Etihad Stadium for the derby, although he reckons it's a tight game to call.

He said: "I think we've got a good chance."

Ahead of that Manchester derby Premier League clash of the titans, City star Joe Hart was at the theatre for a night off from football with girlfriend Kimberley Crew. …
