OLDHAM 2 LEYTON ORIENT 0 OLDHAM boss Paul Dickov has promised to do everything he can to keep deadly strike pair Matt Derbyshire and Jose Baxter at the club after both netted in an impressive win over Leyton Orient.

Derbyshire broke the deadlock on 79 minutes with his fourth goal in eight since joining on loan from Nottingham Forest.

But his spell is due to end this week while Baxter, who curled in a 20-yard beauty moments later, is only contracted until Christmas with Latics set to face competition to retain his services. "Matt wants to stay," said a delighted Dickov. "Forest are very happy with the footballing side of things and he is enjoying himself. I am confident that we can sort something.

"Jose is happy here. He loves the lads, he loves playing here, the fans have taken to him and we will do everything we can to try and keep him."

The win ensured dominant Latics have now taken 10 points from their last 12 after a shaky start to the season. …
