APENSIONER brutally murdered in his own home was carrying up to Pounds 3,000 in his wallet, it has been revealed.

Widower Vincent Kershaw, 84, was found with serious head injuries at his semidetached house in Milnrow after concerned neighbours contacted police.

Detectives believe he had been lying dead for up to 10 days.

Mr Kershaw, known as Vinny, was last seen on Thursday, October 4 buying shopping in Tesco off Dale Street in Milnrow.

Police have released CCTV footage of him in the store in a bid to encourage witnesses to come forward.

He had collected his pension from the Post Office and visited shops in Shaw before getting a taxi home from the supermarket with three bags of food at around 1pm.

They were still sat next to his body when police found him on Sunday evening.

There are no signs of forced entry and it is believed his attacker either followed him in through the front door or was waiting inside. …
