Kidney-Swap Dad Has Given Me a New Life ; Son Gets Donor Organ from His Own Father

AMAN who faced a future on dialysis has been given a new lease of life thanks to his dad.

Danny Buckley went under the knife in October after his dad Steve offered to become a living kidney donor.

Both Danny's own organs had stopped working as a result of his kidney disease.

Danny had a transplant 20 years ago but it had begun to fail. Doctors told him he would face a future on dialysis if he didn't have a second one.

Now, almost three months later, dad-of-two Danny is on the road to full fitness.

Danny, a warehouseman from Denton, said: "With the transplant you can spend more time with your kids and you can plan things, plan holidays.

"It's a relief it's gone well. I didn't want to let my dad down - I've got to look after it.

"My dad never stops talking about it, he tells everyone. I'm pleased he's okay but I don't talk about it so much, I'm more laid back. …
