OLDHAM 0 SHEFF UTD 2 CARETAKER boss Tony Philliskirk felt his players paid the price for two defensive errors after falling to their first defeat in four league games.

Defender James Tarkowski and goalkeeper Alex Cisak made the errors as Oldham slipped back into bottom four.

After a goalless first half, Michael Doyle and Dave Kitson struck for the promotion-chasing Blades.

"I could not fault the effort of the players because I thought we had a right good go," Philliskirk said.

"And, on another day, had we not made the two individual mistakes, then we would have been stood here talking about a goalless draw which I would have been delighted with.

"When you are down at the bottom you make mistakes and tend to get punished.

"If we had a little bit of luck and the odd decision had gone our way, we might have got something from the game.

"It is about keeping the players positive, and when I look at what we have in the changing room, we should not be in the bottom four. …
