Jack's Gearing Up for Cycle Challenge to Help Sick Aunt ; 11-Year-Old Is Riding to Blackpool for Charity Hopes to Raise Money and Awareness on Ride

AN 11-YEAR-OLD boy is cycling 60 miles from his home to Blackpool to raise money to help his aunt and uncle.

Jack Ireland is getting into the saddle for the MS Society and Francis House Children's Hospice.

His aunt Rachael Ellis-Jones suffers from neurological disease MS and his uncle David Ireland is chief executive of Francis House. Jack, from Denshaw in Saddleworth, is following in the footsteps of his dad, Alun, who has ridden from Saddleworth to Paris and from Lands End to John O'Groats for charity.

Jack, a Delph Primary pupil, said: "I wanted to raise money for charity and my dad was doing long bike rides and I want to do the same.

"Denshaw to Blackpool is not too far but it's not near either. I wanted to push myself.

"I'm really looking forward to it. The furthest I've done is 15 miles but I'm going to double that this weekend. Sometimes my aunt can be really tired and she has two small children. I've seen how hard it is for her. I'm really close to her and wanted to do something that would make her proud. …
