Khan Keen to Become Owner of a PSL Team

FORMER world boxing champion Amir Khan is planning to buy a franchise in cricket's Pakistan Super League.

Khan, who is from Bolton, has visited Lahore and Rawalpindi during his current tour of Pakistan.

And it is understood he is keen to finance one of the five teams in the new Twenty20 competition.

The Pakistan Super League was meant to start on March 26, but has now been delayed to allow investors to finalise their bids.

There have been issues getting the competition off the ground, with English counties refusing to release players due to security fears. Pakistan haven't played a home series in the country for several years due to security issues.

Khan is a big cricket fan. His cousin Sajid Mahmood played eight Tests for England and spent 10 years with Lancashire before moving on to Essex this winter.

And the two-time world light-welterweight champ is good friends with Pakistan cricket legend Shahid Afridi.
