BABY Evie Donohue was in such a hurry to enter the world she arrived in the back of an ambulance - on the Mancunian Way.

She was born on the busy city centre road as paramedics desperately tried to get her mum Yvonne to Saint Mary's Hospital.

They didn't reach the wards in time - and Evie was delivered about a mile from the Oxford Road hospital.

Yvonne, 30, said: "Evie is doing fine, it seems to have turned out fine in the end and she doesn't seem to have been affected by the trauma of it.She seems to be settling in all right at 'Evie home now."

Yvonne and her husband Neil, from Urmston, had gone to Saint Mary's on Saturday after her contractions - which she had been experiencing seem to been the drama for two days - became stronger.
