Movie Night Is a Hit with the Critics ; Clubs

Article excerpt

"IT would take someone with a cold heart not to agree that Maverick and Goose singing You've Lost That Loving Feeling is one of the most iconic scenes in cinematic history."

These were the words of Rich Cheetham, explaining the thinking that led him and fellow Manchester stalwart Pasta Paul to create their movie soundtrack-themed clubnight Night Fever.

"We're playing the best songs from the greatest motion pictures of all time. A great clubnight needs 24 Hour Party People and Dirty Dancing."

The club launched in February last year with a Dolby Digital- assisted bang to rave reviews from critics.

Now, 18 months into its life (time flies when you're having fun with the Top Gun OST), Night Fever is getting ready for perhaps its biggest party to date in the shape of this weekend's Bank Holiday Blockbuster.

As well as the usual appearances from High Voltage man Cheetham, the club will also proudly welcome Dutch Uncles star Duncan Wallis to the special edition party.

The band's lead vocalist has been petitioning Facebook fans for ideas on a fancy dress costume for the session (where suggestions have included Cousin It and Egon Spengler from Ghostbusters, both of which would be worth a fiver of anyone's money to see) and will no doubt arrive with a box full of OST-themed big hitters to get the crowd moving. And to top it all off, there will be the usual free popcorn for the first 50 people through the door. What better way to get in the mood for a night busting moves like Tom Cruise in Risky Business? Just remember to put your trousers on if you're planning on going.
