No Need for Nerves as Records Tumble at Delighted Academy

THE sound of celebration echoed through Stockport Academy as the school achieved record A-level results.

Principal Frank McCarron says that all exams were passed at A to E equivalent while 78 per cent were graded A* to C and 44 per cent A* or A. She added that all students at the school, on Heathbank Road, Cheadle Heath, had been accepted to their chosen university course.

Among the success stories was Omar Amanullah, 18, from Penny Lane, Lancashire Hill. He achieved A*s in music and sport as well as a B in business and will study international business and Manchester Metropolitan University.

He said: "Results day is worse than the exams as there is more pressure. I didn't think I'd do this well.

Also celebrating was Jake Howard, from Bloom Street, in Edgeley. The 18-year-old was 'over the moon' with a triple distinction in BTEC sport - the equivalent of three A* A-levels.

Now Jake is off to study sport and exercise science at Manchester Metropolitan University. …
