A MUSICIAN who is celebrating life five years on from a lung transplant will host a gig to raise money to help others.

Dane Pollard, 33, was diagnosed with cystic fibrosis when he was just 18 months old.

The genetic condition causes frequent lung infections and only half of sufferers live to their 40th birthday.

Dane spent much of his childhood in hospital and despite battles with infections, physiotherapy and treatments, he managed to live a fairly active life until 2006, when he moved to Manchester city centre to pursue his passion for music.

But after his 26th birthday, his consultant at Wythesnhawe Hospital told him he needed a transplant, and after two years waiting for a match, he underwent the op.

With the help of four close friends, who are also Dane's band mates, he's now pursuing his passion for performing.

In the last 12 months Dane's band Modern Sound Library have recorded and have released their first EP which is for sale on iTunes. …
