THE Beast had a 'beautiful' derby debut, now he can't wait to get his claws into the rest of English football.

Alvaro Negredo took the fight to United in Sunday's 4-1 demolition, giving Nemanja Vidic a torrid time with a display which combined physical power and football skill.

And now he is set to step back into the side for tomorrow's trip to Aston Villa after he was rested for the midweek Capital One Cup win over Wigan.

The Spaniard, who was known as 'The Beast of Vallecas' in his homeland, had already shown he is not afraid of the greater degree of contact allowed in English football, but he stepped up a level in leading the line against City's old enemy. "You should ask the fans what they think - but it's a nickname I like," said Negredo, with a grin. "It was given to me while I was playing in Spain, so I hope they can call me that over here as well. Hopefully the way I played against United will convince them to do it. I will be happy if they do."

Tough nut Vidic was and beasting, a given certainly given a beasting, and Negredo says he is relishing the greater physical intensity of the games here. …
