Ashes Betting

Article excerpt

I AM really looking forward to an Ashes Test returning to Old Trafford for the first time since 2005.

Who can forget that memorable Monday where 20,000 people were locked out of the ground and another 10,000 were in Manchester unable to get to the stadium on the final day? And those who did get in saw a thriller as it went to the nail-biting final ball of the match only for Australia to hold out for a draw.

Unfortunately, there has been nothing nailbiting about this series so far.

England have a 2-0 advantage and can wrap things up at Old Trafford with a victory, and they are 8/11 to do so.

I haven't taken a bean on Australia, who are available at 9/2. And the draw, which could be interesting if the forecast indicates rain over the five days, is 9/4. Punters have been piling on to a 5- 0 series win now for England, which is into 3/1. Wouldn't it be great to send them packing having suffered a whitewash following the number of times they have taken us to the cleaners over the last decade or two? …
