Molnlycke Cleans Up with Pounds 2m Investment ; Healthcare Firm Hires 25 Staff after growthIt Has Launched New Lines at Oldham Factory

AHEALTHCARE firm has launched new wound cleaning products following a Pounds 2m investment programme. Molnlycke Health Care, a Pounds 1bn global outfit, has also created 25 jobs by extending its Oldham base.

The factory, known as Seton's to many, produces tubular bandages Tubifast and Tubigrip and emollient cream Epaderm. Following the Pounds 2.2m cash injection, wound irrigation liquid sachets, including Normasol, Unisept and Tisept, are now being made and distributed.

Around 37 million of the products, used to clean wounds and burns, will be sent to hospitals across England and throughout the world over the next year.

Manager Nick Douglas said the Oldham factory has an annual turnover of about Pounds 60m.

He said: "An investment of this magnitude is a significant commitment and shows that Oldham will play an important role in Molnlycke Health Care's future production portfolio.

"We are, of course, pleased to be creating new job opportunities in Oldham, but as part of this programme we have also invested in training our existing staff in the use of new technologies, such as steam sterilization. …
