AUNIVERSITY has paid tribute to a 'highly intelligent' student who plunged to his death from a campus building.

Kamran Pattoo, 32, the son of a Manchester doctor, died after falling 70ft from his halls of residence block at Brunel University in London.

He was described as a student with a 'great deal of potential' by the university, where he was a first year biosciences student.

It is understood that Kamran was the son of Dr Bashir Pattoo, a GP based at the New Islington Medical Practice in Ancoats. A spokeswoman at the surgery said Dr Bashir was on leave due to a family bereavement. No-one was at home at the family's detached house in Didsbury last night.

A spokeswoman for Brunel University said: "Although 'He was intelligent' student had a of potential' Kamran was only with Brunel for a short time, his tutors remember him as a highly intelligent student who had a great deal of potential. His friends remember him as a quiet and thoughtful man, who was passionate about music and poetry. …
