MANCHESTER Phoenix can become Premier League champions for the second time in their history this weekend.

They need five points from their final four matches but a win against title-rivals Basingstoke Bison at the Altrincham Ice Dome tomorrow means they could secure the title.

Phoenix travel to the Swindon Wildcats tonight, who beat Bison and MK Lightning last weekend, knowing they have to match Bison's result against Sheffield to set up Sunday's title-clinching tie.

Tony Hand's men last claimed the EPL title in 2011 while they won the play-offs 12 months ago. Phoenix are still on course for completing a double last achieved by Peterborough in 2009.

Head coach Hand is looking forward to one of the biggest weekends in the club's history.

"When you have the possibility of winning the league in front of your home fans, it is absolutely massive," he said. "I don't want to put any extra pressure on the lads, though, and we have to make sure the emotions don't take over. …
