Neighbours Race to Help after Boy, 13, Knocked Down by Car

HEROIC neighbours rushed to the aid of a teenage boy left fighting for his life after he was hit by a car.

The 13-year-old suffered serious head and chest injuries when he was knocked down as he crossed Fitzwarren Street at the junction with Lower Seedley Road, Salford.

Jennifer Green, 45, who lives close to the site of the accident near Tesco Extra, was at home with partner Dave Marriott, 48, when they heard the impact.

She said: "There was a big loud crash and bang.

"I thought at first it was somebody trying to get into the garage, it was that kind of metallic clang. I looked out of the window and there were people running and shouting. We could see someone was lying on the floor."

The couple rushed outside to help and Dave, who has had Red Cross training, gave first aid until paramedics arrived."
