Koukash Is All Set to Step Up His Battle with the Game's Rulers

SALFORD Reds Devils owner Marwan Koukash is poised to announce radical plans proposing sweeping changes be made within the Rugby League hierarchy.

Koukash, who is in Dubai and so misses tonight's clash with Hull FC, has reiterated his call for member clubs to be handed the responsibility of running the Super League.

He is expected to resume his on-going battle with the RFL on his return to Manchester early next week.

Koukash has talked about setting up a breakaway league and has been busy canvassing support for his proposals.

And he believes chief executive Nigel Wood is overburdened in running both Super League and other bodies within the professional game.

"Nigel has too much on his plate - far too much in fact," said Koukash.

"It is time to let the clubs run Super League.

"It is a logical move in my view.

"We are needing new faces and new ideas as I don't feel our game has survived and come out of the recession.

"The number of quality players we have lost proves that. …
