Taxpayers League Gives 16 Legislators Perfect Scores for No-Tax- Increase Votes

The Taxpayers League of Minnesota gave perfect scores to 16 legislators who voted against tax increases in seven issues defined by the league.

All are Republicans.

Taxpayers League President Phil Krinkie, though, chastised the Republican majority in the Legislature for failing to capitalize on its advantages:

Rather than working to enact the priorities that got them elected, Republican legislators let Gov. Dayton set the agenda and wasted time on meaningless hearings, meetings with Vikings owner Zygi Wilf, and approving a long list of public pork projects.

In the end GOP lawmakers failed to accomplish any of their major goals and succumbed to Gov. Dayton's desire to increase the state's debt and approve a taxpayer funded billion dollar sports palace.

The Taxpayers League rankings are based on seven issues in the past session:

* Voting for a bill, vetoed by Gov. Dayton, to repay the school aid shift.

* Voting for the omnibus tax bill, also vetoed

* Voting for the second tax bill, pocket-vetoed.

* Voting against preliminary stadium bills in the House and Senate, which did not pass. …
