Stillman Women Surge to Victory

TUSCALOOSA | The Stillman College women's basketball team erased an 11-point first-half deficit to defeat the Kentucky State Thorobrettes, 86-60, as the Lady Tigers continue their push for a No. 1 seed in the Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Tournament.

"It's good to be back home, these last three games in five days took a lot out of us," Stillman coach Cassandra Moorer said. "These last four games will get us where we want to be."

Phyllice Eubanks led Stillman with 26 points on 11 of 16 shooting and also added nine rebounds. Her 26 points tied a career high. Jamila McKinnis added 19 points and Ashley Kidd and Brittney Jenkins each scored 10.

The Lady Tigers (17-6, 14-4 SIAC) were outplayed by the Thorobrettes in the first half. The Thorobrettes shot 55 percent of 3-pointers (6-for-11). The Lady Tigers rallied in the last two minutes of the half to erase most of the deficit and went into the break trailing 40-37.

"I told them to remember the goals they set in the beginning of the season," Moorer said. …
