Annual Civil War re-enactment and living history program: Today and Sunday at Tannehill Ironworks Historical State Park. The camps will open at 9 a.m. and the battles will be at 2 p.m. Authentic camps, medical and civilian demonstrations and military drill competitions will be held during the day preceding the afternoon battle. An authentic sutler (merchant) street is also open to the public featuring mid-19th-century clothing, equipment, food and drink. In addition to usual park entrance fees, admission for the event is $2 for adults and $1 for seniors and children. Call 205- 477-5711.

Third annual Gene Clements Memorial Lucky Ducky Derby and festival: Tannehill Ironworks Historical State Park, 12632 Confederate Parkway, McCalla. Event will include concessions, crafts, music, food and will conclude with a rubber duck race at the park. Ducks will be sold for $5 throughout the day and all proceeds will benefit Children's of Alabama, the state's only free-standing pediatric hospital. Registration is from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. The race will begin at 3:30 p.m. by the train station and will end at the bridge by the Old Country Store. VFW Post 6022 and Ladies Auxiliary Memorial Day Buddy Poppy sale: Small handmade poppies will be handed out for free in remembrance of military veterans. Donations are accepted and will go to VFW Post 6022 veterans relief fund. Poppies will be handed out at Winn-Dixie stores on Alabama Highway 69 South, the Five Points location and the McFarland Boulevard at Watermelon Road location from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and at the Kangaroo Mart on U.S. Highway 82 in Northport starting at 2 p.m.

Brilliant Coalfest: All day in downtown Brilliant. Antique car and motorcycle ride. Trade day with arts and crafts, food, general merchandise, flea market, clogging, coal mining artifacts display and kids activities. Call 205-465-2281.
