Saturday Night Pickin' and Grinnin': 7 p.m. at the Tunnel's in Gordo. Directions: Take U.S. Highway 82 west, turn across from Dowdle Gas onto Honeyview Drive, look for the building behind the second house on the right. Live country and some gospel music. Come play, sing or just listen and enjoy the music. Children are welcome. Free admission.

Historic Northport Depot: 10 a.m.-1 p.m. at the corner of Ninth Street and 25th Avenue in Northport, displaying an extensive model train layout. Free admission.

Live Country Music Rockin' Country Band: 7-10 p.m. at American Legion Building, Alabama Highway 17, Sulligent. Family environment. Admission is $5, with children 12 and younger admitted free. Call 205-932-3537.

Authors' book signing: 2-4 p.m. at Barnes and Noble, 1800 McFarland Blvd. E., Suite 200. Janice Oswalt, a resident of Tuscaloosa, will be available to sign copies of her book, "Sammie's Rock" and Anna Michelle Sutton, a resident of Northport, will be available to sign copies of her book, "Peas on My Feet."

Humane Society of West Alabama meet and greet adoption event: 10 a.m.-2 p.m. at Pet Supplies Plus, 2600 McFarland Blvd. E. Dogs and older puppies will be there for prospective owners to meet. Applications can be filled out, but same-day adoptions are not be allowed. Call 205-554-0011.

July a la cARTe: 10 a.m.-2 p.m. at the Courtyard of Wonders at Kentuck Art Center, Main Avenue, Northport with local artists and artisans. Children can make photographic images with the help of the sun and water. Special this month: Kids can get free face painting courtesy of Twinkle Productions from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Fish fry and yard sale: yard sale from 8 a.m.-

1 p.m. and fish served from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. at the Pleasant Grove Methodist Church. Event proceeds will benefit the Jena Volunteer Fire Department. The $8 plates include fish, hush puppies, cole slaw, baked beans, a dessert and a drink. See the new fire station and Kermit the fire truck. Call 205-333-0992.
