UWA BRIEFS: Tigers Defeat UAH in Basketball

ROME | The University of West Alabama men's basketball team won its fifth game in a row and defeated the University of Alabama- Huntsville for the first time since 2006, taking a 63-53 win in Gulf South Conference action Tuesday. It gave UWA its 15th win, the most in a season since 1998.

The Tigers (15-8, 12-5) held UAH (13-11, 9-8), who came into the game averaging 77.1 points, to 53 points.

Desmond Raymond led the Tiger offense with 19 points. Lleon Tillman posted his sixth double-double of the season with 15 boards and 13 points. Jarrell Byrd ended with 10 points.

Seab Webster led the Chargers with 17 points, while Wayne Dedrick had 15.

West Alabama plays at Lee on Thursday.

UAH defeats UWA women

LIVINGSTON | The University of Alabama-Huntsville held off a second-half University of West Alabama surge to notch a 95-84 Gulf South Conference women's college basketball victory against the Tigers Tuesday.

West Alabama (4-19, 1-16) placed five players in double figures for the first time this season, led by Shameika Hart with 19 points, Quentinette Odom with 18, Kelcia Bufkin 16, Jada Williams 13 and Jasmine Hampton 10. …
