Duo to Teach Women's Bible Study on How to Become 'The Virtuous Woman'

The virtuous woman described in Proverbs 31 is the kind of woman that some would describe as a myth, an unrealistic fantasy, or at best, the relic of a bygone era.

Many believe that the standards she sets through her work ethic, wisdom, character, business sense, love for her family and neighbors, and her relationship with God are far too high for any real woman in the 21st century to achieve.

But Krista Snyder and Keely Duke believe otherwise. They not only say that Proverbs 31 women still exist, they believe that every woman from a teenage girl to a career woman and mother of four can be one.

Snyder and Duke will teach a woman's Bible study on how to become "The Virtuous Woman" from 8:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. March 1 at Taylorville Baptist Church, 7201 Moundville Lane, Tuscaloosa. The class is free and open to females of all ages.

"We'll study how this Scripture can apply to women today," Snyder said. "They say that this kind of woman is a jewel, a rare thing to find. So we'll have some fun and look at how she impacts peoples lives. We'll talk about how she can be a complement to her work place and everyone else, and how her work was a complement to her, rather than her seeking complements.

"We'll talk about how a woman can be virtuous with her husband and how she can delegate and get the kids on board. We'll also talk about her relationship with the Lord. She's virtuous because she has a relationship with God. She has very high standards, but the king's mother in this Scripture is telling him that this is the kind of woman he should be looking for.

"So we should be teaching our kids in the home what kind of spouses they should be searching for instead of what the media, entertainment and everything else is telling them. …
