Neil Gordon is finished coaching football at Shaler High School, but that doesn't mean he is done coaching.

Gordon resigned as Shaler's coach Friday after four seasons. He was previously coach at Penn Hills for 21 seasons, and his all-time record is 183-87-2.

Gordon, 63, would like to coach again in the WPIAL and plans to seek a job for the 2012 season.

"I have no problem with Shaler. I just thought it was time to move on," Gordon said. "I'm not done coaching. I'm just going to look for another opportunity. Hopefully, there will be some opportunities. I just thought it was a good time to move on."

Gordon said he has no "irons in the fire" on the coaching front, but also added, "I have no intention of being idle this fall."

Gordon and his wife, Melissa, live in Wilkins Township. They have two sons -- Noah, 11, and Thomas, 7. …
