MIAMI -- I

t's officially called the Metromover, but you'll hear it called the "people mover." Whatever you call it, this elevated train is your free ticket to sightseeing in downtown Miami.

Think subway, but one floor above street level. No operators. The car or cars stop, you get on and an automated voice tells you about the next stop.

There are 21 Metromover stations, but the Bicentennial Park Station is closed for renovation. When it reopens, it will be renamed Museum Park Station for the construction of the new Miami Art Museum and new Miami Science Museum.

Just across from the Port of Miami is the Bayside Marketplace shopping and dining area. Because of its close proximity to cruise ships, it can be a little touristy. But it's worth going for good food, and small boats can take you on a tour of the local area. It's just off the College/Bayside Station.

During NBA season, you can see Lebron James and the Miami Heat play at American Airlines Arena -- just off the Park West Station. …
