Speaking publicly for the first time about the shooting at Western Pyschiatric Institute and Clinic, Allegheny County District Attorney Stephen Zappala this afternoon laid out in gruesome detail the carnage that unfolded at the hospital three weeks ago that left seven wounded and two dead, including the gunman.

Mr. Zappala said were it not for a Yellow Cab that could not pick up John Shick and that would have allowed him to carry a bag of Molotov cocktails to Western Psych on March 8, "It could have been much, much, much worse."

Mr. Zappala laid out the frightening moments this way:

Mr. Shick entered the building with two guns, shooting a security guard in the leg and then moving on to the lobby, where he shot secretary Kathryn Leight and several other employees, including 25- year-old Michael Schaab, who was struck in the heart and died one to three minutes later in a hallway.
