Panthers Claw Past Flyers for 2-1 Win

Article excerpt

Stephen Weiss and Sean Bergenheim scored the goals, and Scott Clemmensen stopped 35 shots Tuesday night to lead the visiting Florida Panthers to a 2-1 win against the Philadelphia Flyers. It was the Panthers' fifth consecutive victory.

Clemmensen was outstanding for the Southeast Division leaders, outplaying counterpart Ilya Bryzgalov, one of the hottest goalies in the NHL as the Panthers snapped a five-game losing streak against the Flyers.

Bryzgalov was 8-0-1 with a 1.20 goals against average with four shutouts and a .960 save percentage to help the Flyers win three of his past four decisions.

Left alone in the slot, Weiss scored his 18th goal on a wrist shot over Bryzgalov for a 1-0 lead in the first. Clemmensen improved to 12-6-5 this season.

The Panthers previously won five games in a row as part of a club- record seven-game win streak in 2008.
