PENN STATE BEAVER

Take a walk in my shoes

In recognition of April as Child Abuse Prevention Month and Sexual Assault Awareness Month, the Penn State Beaver library will host the exhibit of a quilt "Survivors Wall" and a display titled "Take a Walk in My Shoes."

The exhibit, free and open to the public, is being presented with the assistance of Beaver campus librarian Marty Goldberg, who hosts an annual April display in conjunction with the Women's Center.

The quilt was designed and sewn by victims of sexual violence who are or were clients of the Women's Center of Beaver County and by Women's Center volunteers and staff. Each quilt square depicts emotions felt by the victims.

The colors of blue and teal represent healing for victims of child abuse and sexual assault, respectively, and are prominent in the display and in information disseminated by the Pennsylvania Coalition Against Rape.

Each shoe in the display is from a victim whose personal story is attached, to give visitors an idea of what that person has endured.
