The number two has been a consistent theme for the Seneca Valley boys volleyball team during the 2012 season.

The Raiders opened the season by placing second at the North Allegheny Tournament, which took place March 24. The Raiders lost to the Tigers in the title game.

The following weekend, Seneca Valley placed second at the Northeastern Tournament in York. The Raiders were defeated by Chambersburg in the title game.

On Saturday, Seneca Valley played host to an 11-team tournament and the Raiders placed second after losing a best-of-three title match against Altoona.

North Allegheny claimed its fourth tournament title in six weeks by winning Saturday at the State College Tournament. The Tigers defeated Northeastern in the title match.

After defeating Shaler Area, 3-1, Tuesday at home, Seneca Valley has an 8-1 record in Section 2-AAA, which leaves the Raiders in second place. North Allegheny leads the section with a 9-0 record after blanking Butler Area, 3-0, Tuesday.

Both teams are in action tonight, as Seneca Valley travels to Pine-Richland, while North Allegheny plays host to Fox Chapel.

Seneca Valley's only setback in section play was a 3-1 loss at North Allegheny. …
