ACCELLENT FORGING PLANT BOUGHT BY TITANIUM PRODUCER

Perryman Co. purchased a Houston, Pa., forging plant from Accellent Inc. and said it will hire most of the plant's 80 workers. Terms were not disclosed. The acquisition moves the Washington County titanium producer into higher margin products. Perryman has a melt shop in California, Pa., that converts titanium scrap into bars that are sent to a plant in Houston, Pa., where they are converted into wire and coil used in the aerospace industry and for medical equipment and other products. Those plants employ about 260. Accellent, based in Wilmington, Mass., performed contract engineering and manufacturing for the medical device industry at the plant.

GRANITE MEMORIALS SUPPLIER ACQUIRED BY MATTHEWS

North Shore-based Matthews International Corp. has acquired Everlasting Granite Memorial Co. of Elberton, Ga. Everlasting is a supplier of granite memorials, columbariums and private mausoleum estates. Matthews is a worldwide distributor of funeral products. The acquisition expands Matthews' presence in the granite memorial segment.

TOKYO SUSHI BUFFET AND GRILL RECEIVES CONSUMER ALERT

Tokyo Sushi Buffet and Grill on McKnight Road in the North Hills was hit with a Consumer Alert by the Allegheny County Health Department Thursday after an inspection turned up recurring, multiple, critical, food safety violations. Problems included numerous items on the steam table, hibachi bar and in coolers being held at unsafe temperatures and stored items not being protected from cross contamination by raw foods. Health department records show inspectors visited the restaurant at least 15 times over the last two years, including five times in the last six months, finding the same types of critical violations.
