Cue lights, disco ball, music and it was like adding water to sea monkeys -- people instantly came alive and started dancing. A packed dance floor before all the guests have made it from the reception to the ballroom is the sign of a great party and Pittsburgh Public Theater Gala co-chairs Dan Onorato and Jack Barbour couldn't have been happier. "You Gotta Have Art!" to honor Art Rooney II (with Greta and their three daughters) at the Wyndham Grand Friday night was the most successful benefit in PPT history, with close to 700 guests helping to raise nearly $700,000. After dinner, a live auction and a very funny video tribute to Mr. Rooney featuring Roger Goodell, Lynn Swann and Hines Ward kept things lively. "I wore my fancy yellow jacket tonight because I know Ted [Pappas] is such a sharp dresser and he's in a dark suit," quipped Mr. Rooney.

Dark suit or not, you could chalk up the energy in the room to Mr. Pappas. The producing artistic director of PPT raised the bar when he showed off his dance moves. Among those trying to keep up were Bob and Leslie Nutting, U.S. Attorney David Hickton, Harris and Janet Ferris, Athena Sarris, Sam and Joanie Kamin, Stephanie and Mike Bozic, Jeremy and Rebecca Kronman, Jean and Charlie Horne, Robert Paul, Nadine Bognar, Tim McVay and David Bush and Bill and Vivian Benter -- Patricia Sheridan

The Saturday night bash had more than 1,000 filling a warehouse space in the Strip District for dancing, drinking and daring to dream like Dionysus. Packed tight as a dominatrix's corset was the Dirty Donors pre-party in the VIP Velvet Lounge, with 200 shoulder-to-shoulder to see a special tribute performance to the Dirty Dozen (longtime supporters) by Michele de la Reza and Peter Kope and their dance troupe. Meeting and greeting were event chairs Melanie Crockard and Jon Seeley. Turning the warehouse into a really hot club was endlessly imaginative Richard Parsakian. Cage and shadow dancers, sexy twister, a secrets booth along with dual stages kept the energy high. Leather, whips, chains, wings and feathers and that's just some of what the guests were sporting. Among the many getting into the decadent spirit were board president Todd Owens with Jami Rutherford, Pam and Ken McCrory, Debra and Manny Reich, Rich and Cindy Engler, Clyde Jones, Larry Leahy, Maria and Ivan Yotov, Nachum Golan and Steve Hough and Dutch MacDonald and Becky Mingo. …
