Penn State earned its second commitment from the class of 2013 this week, as wide receiver/linebacker Zach Bradshaw confirmed his intentions to play for the Nittany Lions.

Bradshaw is 6 feet 3, 205 pounds. Rivals lists him as the 95th best wide receiver in the country, but he also is projected as a linebacker at the next level.

Bradshaw, a senior, is from Damascus High School in Maryland. He picked Penn State over West Virginia, Michigan and Maryland, among other schools.

Bradshaw is Penn State's 13th commit in the class of 2013 so far. He joins Dorian Johnson as the second commit this week.

GOLF

U.S. Ryder Cup captain Davis Love III has selected Fred Couples and Mike Hulbert to be two of his assistant captains. Love and Couples were one of the toughest teams in World Cup history, along with being Ryder Cup teammates. Couples was captain the previous Presidents Cups, both American victories. He was selected as Presidents Cup again for 2013. Hulbert is a longtime friend, who also was an assistant captain under Curtis Strange in 2002 at The Belfry.

* The PGA Tour announced another important sponsorship, agreeing to a 10-year deal with Web.com as the sponsor of its developmental tour. The Web.com Tour replaces what had been known as the Nationwide Tour, and the change was effective immediately.

* Matt Dobyns, the PGA head professional at Fresh Meadow Country Club in Lake Success, N.Y., completed a runaway victory in the PGA Professional National Championship in Seaside, Calif., closing with a 2-under 70 on the Bayonet course for an eight-stroke margin.

AUTO RACING

Roush Fenway Racing has two young drivers in its stable in need of additional seat time. Ricky Stenhouse Jr. got the nod this week when the organization picked the defending Nationwide Series champion to replace Matt Kenseth in the Sprint Cup Series when Kenseth leaves at the end of the season. …
