Thanksgiving brings closings, race, parade

All federal, state, Allegheny County and Pittsburgh offices and courts are closed today for Thanksgiving.

State offices and courts will also be closed on Friday.

Banks, state liquor stores and post offices are closed on Thanksgiving Day, with no pickup or delivery of regular mail. Garbage pickup is delayed one day.

The Port Authority of Allegheny County is operating bus, T and incline service on a holiday schedule today. About 30 bus routes are being detoured Downtown and on the North Shore from approximately 7 to 11 a.m. today due to the annual Turkey Trot race. The Port Authority's customer service phone line, 412-442-2000, is operating from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

On Saturday, the My Macy's Holiday Parade will be held from 9 to 11 a.m. The lineup will take place on Liberty Avenue in the Strip District, and the parade will travel on Liberty to Grant Street, turn right onto Fifth Avenue, then left back onto Liberty and left onto Stanwix Street. …
