When Hampton and Trinity met Monday in the WPIAL playoffs, it was expected to be a low-scoring game.

That turned out to be the case, only there was an unlikely winner.

Zach Kenny drove in the winning run with a sixth-inning single to help No. 14-seeded Trinity upset Hampton, 4-3, in a first-round WPIAL Class AAA game at Burkett Field in Robinson.

Nick Riotto pitched a complete game and struck out eight for Trinity (10-8). Riotto gave up only one earned run.

Dustin Galentine led the Hillers with three hits.

Joe Vita struck out five, but was the loser for the Talbots.

Trinity has not given up more than four runs in any of its past 11 games.

Hampton (17-3) saw its streak of 13 consecutive games of allowing two runs or fewer come to an end.
