Light turnout was reported around the district today as voters had only a few high-profile primary races -- including Pittsburgh's mayor -- to decide.

Polls are open until 8 p.m.

Voters are choosing nominees for municipal offices, judges and school boards.

The only statewide contest is between Allegheny County Judge Jack McVay Jr. and Philadelphia Municipal Court Judge Joseph C. Waters Jr. for the Democratic nomination for an open seat on the state Superior Court. Harrisburg lawyer Vic Stabile is unopposed on the Republican side.

In the Pittsburgh mayor's race, city Councilman Bill Peduto and former Pennsylvania auditor general Jack Wagner are regarded as the front-runners on the Democratic side. Also running are state Rep. Jake Wheatley and A.J. Richardson, a Sheraden community activist.

The winner will face Josh Wander of Squirrel Hill, the unopposed Republican nominee for mayor.

Voters notified Allegheny County election officials of several issues since polls opened this morning. …
