Gun in Car Links Man to Aug. Killing in Larimer

Pittsburgh police have charged a Larimer man with an August killing after they connected a gun found in his rental car to shell casings collected at the crime scene, according to court documents.

Zachary Blair, 28, was arraigned Monday night on one count of homicide in the Aug. 15 death of Anthony "Tone" Wilson inside a home on Lowell Street.

Police said Mr. Wilson, 24, was visiting someone inside the home when he opened the door about 10:45 p.m. and someone opened fire, striking him in the head, trunk and extremities. Medics pronounced Mr. Wilson dead at the scene.

Detectives collected from the crime scene 11 brass shell casings with the stamp "40 S&W RP."

Nine days later, police encountered Blair when he dropped off a gunshot victim at UPMC Mercy. While investigating that shooting, police said they obtained a search warrant for the car Blair rented and found a .40-caliber Smith & Wesson handgun.

The Allegheny County medical examiner's office informed detectives earlier this month that nine of the shell casings collected at the scene of the Larimer shooting appeared to have been fired from the gun found in Blair's car, according to a criminal complaint. …
