Drivers Are Foul in Ignoring Guards and School Bus Laws

I'm a parent who walks his son to and from the school bus stop almost every day. I have to say that the number of people who either don't see or refuse to stop for school buses is appalling. Sometimes the drivers are too busy staring at their smart phones, but many times they simply feel that the law does not apply to them. How do I know this? Because they say so.

I've witnessed people screaming obscenities at the crossing guard, other parents, me and even my 10-year-old son for simply crossing the street when the school bus lights are flashing. One parent told me she didn't have to stop because she had a child in the car.

Last year, one of our crossing guards was hit by a car and the guy who hit her fled the scene. Although she survived, she still needs physical therapy to deal with her injuries. Other guards have been followed home and threatened for making drivers stop. …
