She went down on escalator in a way that attracted help

I took a very frightening fall on Oct. 22 on the escalator at the North Shore T station.

I was unable to get up on the moving stairs and felt very helpless. Thanks to the five other riders on that escalator, I was saved from what might have been an even worse experience.

Some riders came immediately to my aid while a gentleman and two ladies arrived at the top and caught me before I came to the end of the steps. Thank you so much to those kind and alert people as well as to the very professional and caring Port Authority police officer who further assisted me.

Pittsburgh emergency responders arrived shortly, and I was checked over for injuries. Pittsburghers are certainly good people.

He told me to stay at the station with my car while he went to the auto supply place and returned with the suitable cap. I started to give him the money for the cap and he said, no, he didn't want it.

I insisted and did manage to give him the money for the cap, and a generous tip, and told him to buy him and his girl some Champagne. He said to me that he had been thinking that if anything like this had happened to his grandmother, he would want someone to help her. …
