Hitter: Josh Harrison, who went 1 for 2 with a home run off of LHP Antonio Bastardo with two outs in the sixth inning.

Of note: Closer Jason Grilli is targeted to make his first game appearance "later [this] week" according to manager Clint Hurdle. March 6 against Toronto is a possible date, Hurdle said.

Stolmy Pimentel (1-0) pitched two scoreless innings in his first start of spring training for the Pirates, giving up just one hit against a left-handed-heavy lineup.

"I'm liking the growth. We like the young man, was a positive outing for him," Hurdle said. "Not his sharpest stuff. But made pitches and stayed aggressive."

Pimentel's role is still unclear, as he is out of options. He could serve as long reliever with spot starts. …
