MONDAY

The ninth annual B-PEP Jazz Concert musical "fun-raiser" for the Black Political Empowerment Project or B-PEP, 5:30-11:30 p.m., will be at Bridges in the Wyndham Pittsburgh University Center, 100 Lytton Ave., Oakland. Vocalist Michele Bensen, saxophonist Tony Campbell, trombonist Al Dowe, trombonist Nelson Harrison and vocalist Flo Wilson are among the many artists slated to perform. Guest emcees will include Bob Allen and Jon Burnett, KDKA-TV; Kevin Amos, WRCT-FM; Debbie Norrell, The New Pittsburgh Courier; Vince Sims, WPXI-TV; and Andrew Stockey, WTAE-TV. Charlie Batch, former Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback and founder of the Best of the Batch Foundation, is the B-PEP Jazz honorary chairman. The Christian McBride Trio performs at the Cabaret at Theatre Square, 655 Penn Ave., Downtown, at 8 p.m. Mr. McBride is a three- time Grammy Award winner, jazz bassist, composer and arranger. A prominent figure in the jazz world for more than 20 years, he has worked as a sideman with Freddie Hubbard, Sonny Rollins, J.J. Johnson, Ray Brown, Milt Jackson, McCoy Tyner, Roy Haynes, Chick Corea, Herbie Hancock and Pat Metheny. In the R&B world, he has performed with James Brown, Isaac Hayes, Chaka Khan and Natalie Cole. RAW: natural born artists showcases local emerging artists in film, fashion, music, visual art, performance art, hair and makeup artistry and photography at Club Zoo, 1630 Smallman St., Strip District, at 7 p.m. "Spectrum" will feature 40-plus artists including live music by Solarburn, Shelf Life String Band, Velvet Heat and The Wave; 26 visual artists, photographers and accessories artists; fashion shows by Unique Impression, Hyena, Mureaux, and Biome; hair and makeup artistry by Hillary Evans, Meg Frattare and ChristaLee Lema; and dance performances by Alexandra Bodnarchuk, Infra Dance Company and Janim of the Pittsburgh Bellydance Academy.
