Dallas Defense Expects Big Lift Dillon, Nemeth Due Back for Game 4

ANAHEIM, Calif. -- Imagine, if you can, that the Dallas Stars have not yet played their best lineup or their best hockey. If you're a Dallas fan, it's a thought that's diabolically delicious. If you back the Anaheim Ducks, it's a little bit alarming.

The Stars and Ducks will square off Friday night in Game 5. With each side winning its two home games so far in the best-of-7, Western Conference first-round playoff series, it would be easy to say neither has an advantage. Yes, Anaheim is the first seed and had the best regular-season team in the West, so it gets two of the final three games at home, and that has to be seen as an advantage.

But Dallas dropped both Games 1 and 2 by one goal on the road and could get one of its best players back for Game 5. There's a good chance Stars defenseman Brenden Dillon will play for the first time in the series. The burly Dillon has been bothered by a lower-body injury and has been nursing it back to health. He practiced the past three days and is being called a gametime decision by Stars coach Lindy Ruff. …
