BOYS BASKETBALL: Bobcats take early 15-point lead before Rams crawl backSARASOTA -- B.J. Ivey knew his team would have a sour taste in its mouth in the rematch after a one-point loss at North Port five weeks ago.Instead of giving a big pep talk that would have fired up the Riverview High boys basketball team, Ivey low-keyed it.It did not matter.Playing for the first time since winning their own tournament Dec. 30, the Rams came out icy cold.Ivey did not panic. More importantly, neither did his team.Riverview methodically clawed its way back into the game by continuously getting to the free throw line and made enough plays down the stretch to hold on for a 55-50 Class 8A-District 8 win over the Bobcats on Friday night in front of a nice crowd at the Rams gym.The Rams suffered a 49-48 loss in the first district game Dec. 2 at North Port."We felt like we played our worst game of the year," Ivey said. We had to get a lift somehow."That lift came from Traver. After North Port (12-2; 3-1 in 8A-8) opened a 10-point lead in the first quarter and a 15-point cushion with 10 minutes gone, Traver hit three 3-pointers in the second quarter to get the Rams back in the game."He kept us in it," Ivey said. "Without Eric stepping up and hitting those three shots, they continue to make their run, and it's too much for us to come back. He's MVP of two tournaments. He's a special player, and special players do that in special games."Riverview (12-2; 3-1 in 8A-8) scored the final nine points of the first half and the first three of the third quarter to get within 28-27. …
