BASEBALL: Tying run left on third in bottom of seventh

Riverview dropped a 4-3 decision to Braden River on Tuesday night in a non-district game.

The Rams' Luke Maglich reached third base in the bottom of the seventh before a pop fly to left field ended the game.

Maglich, a senior, went 2-for-4 at the plate with a triple and one RBI to lead Riverview (8-8) while sophomore Cory Labsan went 2- for-2 overall.

Riverview hosts Lakewood Ranch at 7 p.m. Thursday.

BRADENTON -- The Manatee HEAT took an early five-run lead and never looked back en route to a victory over Bradenton Christian.

Sophomore Andy Robbins went 4-for-4 with a double and a game- high three RBI to lead the HEAT, while sophomore Jacob Heiser went 2- for-4 with one RBI.

Robbins also recorded the win for Manatee, going the final three innings with no earned runs and two strikeouts.

Taylor Briggs chipped in with a home run for the HEAT while Adam Martin added a double.

BRADENTON CHRISTIAN 3

SOUTHEAST 0

BRADENTON -- Hailey Dearlove struck out seven batters in seven innings as host Bradenton Christian shut out Southeast.

Dearlove allowed three hits and no walks to lead the Lady Panthers (9-8).

The junior improved to 7-6 on the mound with the win while Lily DeVirgilis, Madison Dreier and Kara Saylor had two hits apiece.

Saylor, a sixth-grader, finished with a game-high two RBI while Dreier, a junior, had the other RBI.

Bradenton Christian visits Palmetto at 6 p.m. Thursday for Breast Cancer Awareness Night.

Both teams will don pink uniforms in support of breast cancer awareness in the non-district contest.

SAINT STEPHEN'S 0

BRADENTON -- Jill Kaspar tossed her first career no-hitter as Cardinal Mooney cruised to a rout of host Saint Stephen's in the teams' district finale.

The senior struck out two and walked only one batter for the Lady Cougars (9-7, 6-0), who finished the regular season undefeated in district play. …
