QB LEADS ATTACK: Lemon Bay easily beats Mariner

Don't bother telling Lemon Bay that it is supposed to be a rebuilding year.

Don't waste your time telling quarterback Lucas Sparks that his offense can't function without the presence of 2,000 yard rusher Andrew Taylor in the backfield, either.

The Manta Rays aren't buying it.

Despite losing key seniors to graduation at multiple positions, Lemon Bay looked like an improved team in its spring game en route to a 23-14 victory at Cape Coral Mariner.

Sparks led the way on three first-half touchdown drives to help the Manta Rays build an early 23-7 lead that they would never relinquish against the host Tritons.

Dakota Reigle caught a 25-yard touchdown pass from Sparks on a post pattern up the middle in the second quarter that gave Lemon Bay a 21-7 advantage.
